I watched the link. He puts a tiny drop of super glue at base of hairs & then pushes it splayed open. So only the base has super glue. Worth watching the link. I’m guessing it was a 6 or 8 round
@ Thanks for that Melissa - I actually watched the link quite a few times but couldn’t work out what kind of glue he was using - it’s worth trying on a cheap Chinese brush so it’s no great loss if I ruin it with the super glue.
@ if you go into settings if you are watching on a computer or phone, you can put English subtitles on. Plus he used a high pigment with permanent ink. “Marie’s” or similar. So that when he layers, the old paints do not rub out of paper when they are wet again. Peaceful best you 💟
Love your style of painting, but how do you get the brush to stay spread open when wet? When I try the hairs all come together like a regular brush whether the paint is watery or creamy! Like you I am using a typical Chinese calligraphy brush

I don't think it's a tutorial though...? It's just a sped up video of him painting a painting. If you don't like the music, mute it (that's what I do when I'm out and forgot my earbuds).

I think you have to let it completely dry after you give wash over the layer.
Asian watercolors dry permanent, unlike western watercolor, that can smudge after dry. Try Marie’s Chinese watercolors.
